plot twist: I think that LF wheel (control arm, something) was already broken, causing the loss of control in the first place. All things considered they were quite lucky how they came down that bank and through an intersection without hitting anything or flipping over.

All in all this went about as well as flying off the free way ever could.

It does look that way. I’m thinking the ball joint failed.

Seriously, I actually think the driver did a spectacular job, of course, not knowing what caused that failure in the first place.

Probably from crossing the median to get to the opposite side of highway.

Seconding what some other peopel have said: Since it looks like the ball joint failed (and assuming the driver didn’t do something stupid to cause it) it looks like a combination of quite a lot of luck and a bit of skill kept things from being much worse.

Seeing how they crossed the median into oncoming traffic, h
eading
towards a steep drop-off, this went a lot better than expected.

I want to believe this. This sort of maneuver is all you do in video games. I want to believe it's feasible in real life, especially in such a big body on frame sort of truck thing

I think it would have been more or less OK if not for the prior damage. If the wheels were straight when they came down off that curb I don’t see why that would have done the damage. I’d love to know what DID cause it...
